Nissan sales fall first time in 10 years

Nissan car manufacturer sold fewer cars last year than the year before. It is the first time since 2009 that the Japanese have to deal with a fall in sales figures.

In 2018 Nissan sold a small 5.7 million cars worldwide, a decrease of 2.8 percent compared to the previous year. Especially in North America and Europe cars of the brand found less deduction.

Nissan is going through a turbulent period, now that his former chairman Carlos Ghosn is trapped in Japan on suspicion of fraud. The company itself is also suspected of malpractice with the finances. The arrest of Ghosn in November caused a shock in the alliance Nissan has with Renault and Mitsubishi, a joint venture with which the car company played a major role.
