Criminals sell 617 million hacked accounts on Dark Web

Cyber ​​criminals offer access to 617 million accounts on the darkweb. They come from sixteen hacked websites, The Register reports Tuesday. Users’ accounts are offered at the marketplace Dream Market on the dark web, the encrypted and anonymous part of the internet.

Accounts come from websites that are known to have had a data leak, such as MyFitnessPal and MyHeritage.

From other websites, such as the photo service 500px, it was not known that accounts had been leaked. A 500px spokesperson tells The Register that a hack has taken place in 2018. The service informs its users.

Most data was leaked from Dubsmash: 162 million. MyFitnessPal leaked 151 million data and at MyHeritage 92 million. Among the offered data are e-mail addresses, passwords, location data and other personal information. According to The Register, this is accurate data.

The seller is asking for $ 20,000 (almost EUR 17,700) for the total package, but databases are also sold separately.
