Google to present new smart camera in 2019
Google would like to introduce a new camera to the market in 2019. The product will be released according to a source of the Nikkei Asian Review since the camera maker Nest is fully part of Google.
According to the source, it is a security camera for SOHO. Nest makes this kind of smart cameras. They work with, among other things, image recognition, which enables the device to recognize, for example, whether a person is in the view.
The message from the Japanese newspaper does not show whether the camera to be released under the Nest or Google brand name. Google has spent the last months on hardware products under its own name, such as the Pixel phones. The company is reportedly working on a cheaper version of the Pixel smartphone and a smartwatch under the same name.
According to a source of the Nikkei Asian Review, Google will also release a new version of its smart speaker Google Home in 2019.
Google announced in February 2018 that Nest would become part of the company’s hardware business. Back then, the company said that both the Google and Nest brand names will continue to exist independently.
