Important database was exposed, 2.4 million people and companies are at risk

A database with data from more than 2.4 million people and companies from the American Dow Jones has been online unprotected for an unknown period of time. This was discovered by internet security researcher Bob Diachenko.

It concerns the Dow Jones Watchlist, a list of persons with political influence, their business partners and associated companies. In addition, the database contains international sanction lists and overviews of people who are convicted or linked to crime.

The Dow Jones informs Diachenko that it appears that the Watchlist has been placed on an unprotected server by a third party. After reporting the researcher on 22 February, the publicly accessible database was taken offline.
