Trump abandons the idea to gather G7 on his golf resort

US President Donald Trump has abandoned the plan to hold the next G7 summit at his golf club in Florida. He announced this via Twitter. The White House announced on Thursday that the meeting of the most important industrial countries would be held there in 2020, but Trump is now abandoning a wave of criticism that erupted.

The Democrats saw in the decision to keep the G7 in Trump National Doral golf club the proof that the president was abusing his office for personal gain. The White House contradicts that and states that this place is a lot cheaper than other options.

The meeting of the most important industrial countries is from 10 to 12 June next year. In another tweet, Trump says that he is now looking for a different location, and Camp David, the president’s country retreat, is also in the picture.
