Saudi national shot people at the US military base
“Clearly, many questions will arise about the fact that this person is a stranger, part of the Saudi Air Force, and then trains here on our ground,” said Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis. He stressed that the man “has the same nationality as fifteen of the nineteen men who were involved in the 9/11 attacks and some of whom went to the Florida flight school.”
King Salman of Saudi Arabia called President Donald Trump and expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims. According to Trump, the king further said that
“the Saudi people are furious with the barbaric actions of the shooter and that they in no way represent the feelings of the Saudi people who love the Americans.”
Trump himself called the shooting a “terrible event”. It is being investigated whether the incident has a link with terrorism.
It was the second shooting at a naval base in three days. On Wednesday, an American sailor at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, a marine base, shot two people and injured one. Then he robbed himself of life.
