Boeing will lay off more of its staff

Boeing wants to get rid of more staff than was announced earlier this year. Top man David Calhoun reported that in a letter to the staff. In april, the American aircraft manufacturer announced that he wanted to say goodbye to about 10 percent of the workforce, which is about 16,000 employees, due to the impact of the corona crisis.

In particular, the demand for passenger aircraft has collapsed. “Unfortunately, layoffs are a difficult but necessary step to adapt to the new reality,” writes Calhoun. Boeing expects a significantly smaller market over the next three years and offers employees a voluntary redundancy package. After the 10% reduction in the workforce in April, the company has no specific percentage in mind.

At the presentation of the quarterly figures at the end of July, a new layoff was already settled. In the second quarter, Boeing suffered a net loss of nearly USD 2.4 billion. Annual turnover fell by 25% to 11.8 billion dollars.
