Anthony Fauci warned of wave after wave of new infections

In the United States of America it is imminent in the coming weeks, “a wave after wave of infections after the last long weekend of the Thanksgiving holiday, during which millions of Americans travel, and paid the family visits. That’s what American Top immunologist Anthony Fauci said on Sunday, AP reports.

According to Fauci, a member of the White House task force to combat the pandemic, it is unlikely that social distancing recommendations for Christmas will be relaxed, he said to the American television station ABC. The number of infections in the US, which has been rising for weeks, “does not suddenly go away”, he warned.

In connection with Thanksgiving, last Thursday, 800 000 to more than a million passengers traveled through American airports every day in the past week, according to figures from the Transportation Security Administration. This is considerably less than the 2.3 to 2.6 million passengers per day last year, but much more than the passenger numbers previously recorded during the pandemic. This spring these daily figures fell to less than 100 000.

The number of new cases of Covid-19 in the US exceeded for the first time on Friday the 200,000 limit, as reported by Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 13 million people have been infected. Over 265,000 people died from the virus.
