Shell considers leaving Nigeria to escape bad image

Royal Dutch Shell is said to be considering leaving Nigeria and to have hired Standard Chartered to find a buyer for his possessions on the mainland.

Talks are taking place with the Nigerian government about the next steps for our land operations in Nigeria. We are in the early stages of evaluating our commercial opportunities — said spokesman of Shell.

Shell owns 30 percent of the shares in the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, abbreviated SPDC, and is the operator.

Nigeria is struggling with a lot of pollution caused by the oil industry.
