US implements tariff exemptions for wide range of Chinese goods

The US government will exempt hundreds of Chinese-made products from import tariffs again. According to the US Trade Representative, this is an exemption for 352 Chinese products that were taxed with import tariffs since 2018. The tariffs were imposed by then-president Donald Trump after he launched a trade war with Beijing.

The administration of current president Joe Biden has been seeking opinions since October on which of the 559 products subject to a levy are eligible for exemptions. That was clarified on Wednesday.

Products exempted include seafood, certain chemicals, textiles, electronics and consumer goods.
