There was a $25 minimum to have the money pooled, a mercy rule for the competition

Today the Lower Commons was abuzz with holiday cheer, hawkers selling their wares, and... sumo wrestling?

Twelve organizations of the Knight Student Government participated in the event, the goal of which was to raise money for Charity. Each organization had from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to raise as much money as they could, for the charity of their choice, by any means they desired.

There was an added element of friendly rivalry, as the organization that raised the most money would receive half of all monies raised, excluding any funds raised by the KSG Executive Committee, which excluded themselves from the competition. All of their collected funds will go to their selected charity, Toys for Tots.

There were tables with candy "sushi", raffles for gift cards to local restaurants like Millonzi's in West Warwick, video game tournaments, and (perhaps the biggest draw) the aforementioned sumo wrestling.

The students were lining up to face off against each other in the padded and inflatable suits provided by the Executive Committee. The rules were fast and loose, but it was more about the pre-exam stress release and contributing to charity than whether of not the bouts would be sanctioned by a sumo wrestling regulatory board.
