Amazon exceeds sales and profit expectations
Internet retailer Amazon has significantly increased its revenues in the past quarter compared to the same period in 2017. Analysts had anticipated a smaller increase in turnover.
Revenue at Amazon was $72.3 billion in the fourth quarter of last year. Over the same period in 2017, sales were $ 60.5 billion. In average, a turnover of $71.87 billion was expected. The profit per share of $6.04 was achieved. Analysts assumed a profit per share of $5.68.
Amazon’s forecast for sales in the current quarter between $ 56 billion and $ 60 billion came under the consensus of analysts who had foreseen $ 60.5 billion.
