Google to introduce own streamed gaming console and service

Tech giant Google will also announce its own game console during an event in March, according to information held by 9to5Google.

Google recently invited journalists for a press conference on 19 March. The company did not say what will be discussed, but sources leaked that a streaming service for games will be demonstrated.

The game computer shown in 9to5Google has been created specifically for this streaming service. The games are played on computers in data centers, from where the image is streamed to the game consoles.

Because the hardware only needs to process streams from games, no expensive graphics cards or processors are required. With the equipment, Google would make it easier to use the streaming service on a television.

Sources told in June last year that Google is working on the game hardware, which is being developed under the codename Project: Yeti.
