Instagram test option to watch video together

Following Facebook, Instagram also receives the Watch Party function, in which users can watch the same video together via Instagram. This was reported by software researcher Jane Manchun Wong. Facebook appears to be testing the function Watch Party in Instagram, which allows users to watch videos together.

According to the researcher, the function is started from the Instagram Direct chat function. After that, users can watch videos together.

Watch Party has been available worldwide in Facebook since July 2018. Since then, according to the company, more than twelve million Watch Parties have been launched in Facebook groups.

Presumably, the function in Instagram is mainly intended for users to watch YouTube competitor IGTV together. That part of Instagram was launched in June 2018, but seems not very popular yet, unlike the rest of Instagram.
