Hulu streaming fell under Disney corp total control

Disney gets full control over the Hulu streaming service. The entertainment giant, which recently unfolded its plans for its own streaming service to compete with Netflix, has made an agreement with cable company Comcast that will allow it to take over the shares it does not yet own in five years’ time. The operational control is transferred directly to Disney.

Hulu is not well known in the Netherlands, but it is an established name in the United States. The streaming service scored especially with the hit series The Handmaid’s Tale. Hulu can play an important role in Disney’s new Disney + service.

Disney already acquired a 60 percent stake in Hulu in March. That interest was part of the 21st Century Fox entertainment branch that was incorporated for $ 71 billion. Recently, the interest was increased by taking over shares from telecom company AT&T. The agreements with Comcast concern an interest of 33 percent. Comcast will eventually receive billions of dollars from Disney.
