Tesla does not achieve its own production target

Elon Musk promise left unfulfilled

Tesla does not achieve its own goal of producing a thousand Model 3 cars per day. Business Insider reports this based on internal documents from the maker of electric cars.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote in an e-mail to employees on May 22 that in the remainder of the second quarter a thousand Model 3 cars would have to be made structurally in order to set a new production record. Tesla documents would show that in the following weeks that goal was almost never achieved. The average production amounted to seven hundred cars.

The production record at Tesla was established in the fourth quarter of 2018, when 90,700 cars were made. Musk is known for setting very ambitious goals. They are not always achieved.
