Trade deal is closer as high level consultations ‘went well’

PRC and USA are on track with the trade deal

The United States and China have again held high-level trade consultations. It is the second time that there have been consultations since the recent closure of a truce in the trade feud between the two economic superpowers.

There were telephone conversations between US Finance Minister Steven Mnuchin and trade envoy Robert Lighthizer with Beijing. No details are known about the content. Mnuchin stated earlier this week that if the telephone consultation went well, he and Lighthizer would travel to China for further conversations.

President Donald Trump and his Chinese colleague Xi Jinping closed a ceasefire in the trade dispute at the recent G20 summit in Japan. By the way, Trump threatened again this week with more import duties on Chinese goods.
