No shutdown in the US anymore
It has been agreed that spending over the next two years will be increased by billions of dollars. As a result, the United States budget deficit may break the $ 1 trillion limit next year.
“With this agreement, we aim to prevent a new government closure,” Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer said in a statement.
The House of Representatives is expected to approve the agreement this week, before the delegates go on recess on July 26. The Senate will then vote on the deal next week. Finally, Trump must put his signature under it.
The budget deficit and debt ceilings are the cornerstone of the bargaining practice for the legislators and administration. Usually the process lead to even more added budget deficit as legislators only agree on ceiling rise in exchange of their own projects known as ‘earmarks’. It is part of the famous ‘swamp’ the president has sworn to drain.
