USA Justice wants information from car manufacturers

The US Department of Justice has filed requests for information from four automakers about an agreement that they concluded with the state of California on emissions standards. The insiders reported this to Bloomberg news agency.

This concerns the Ford Motor, Honda Motor, BMW and Volkswagen car companies. They made a deal with California in July on emissions. In addition, they will voluntarily adhere to the stricter regulations in California regarding car emissions instead of the more flexible rules nationwide in the United States. However, the judiciary has criticized the agreement by worrying that certain competition laws can be broken. There could be a conspiracy, it sounds.

BMW confirmed the request from the judiciary and said it would cooperate with the request for information. Honda also stated that it cooperated.
