This year Amazon will drop the MWC event

Major tech companies such as Amazon, LG, Ericsson and NVIDIA are not coming to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) tech fair in Barcelona for fear of the corona virus. Samsung also has doubts about participation.

Amazon announced on Sunday evening that it would withdraw, CNET said. The organization of MWC says that the stock market will continue as usual, but that special measures will be taken to minimize the risk of infection by the virus.

For example, MWC is blocking visitors from the Hubei province in China, where the virus broke out last month, the BBC reports. Visitors who have recently been to China must prove that they have been out of the country for two weeks.

The coronavirus has now infected nearly forty thousand people, 910 of whom have died. Every year about one hundred thousand people visit MWC.
