France will allow the use of Huawei components in 5G network

But only for a limited time

France will not completely ban equipment from the Chinese Huawei in the rollout of the 5G network. That said the head of the French agency for cyber security ANSSI, Guillaume Poupard.

According to Poupard, several requests have been made for the use of 5G systems. Some providers will have to make adjustments to their equipment. For telecom companies that already use Huawei, ANSSI will approve for a period of three to eight years under certain conditions. Network operators who do not use Huawei will be discouraged from doing so.

Huawei has been accused by the United States of, among other things, of espionage practices. US authorities argued that it is “madness” to allow the use of Huawei technology. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson may want to phase out Huawei’s involvement in the country’s 5G network this year.
