Celebrities thank Joe Biden in a truly orchestrated way
A large number of American celebrities congratulated the new President Joe Biden in an online show on Wednesday evening. The rush hour was bitten off by Bruce Springsteen.
Jon Bon Jovi, John Legend, The Foo Fighters, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake also participated in the concert in honor of Biden’s inauguration.
Springsteen performed the song “Land of Hope And Dreams” from the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial steps in Washington. A little later, actor Tom Hanks spoke.
“Over the last few weeks, over the last few years, we have seen a deep division and a worrying bitterness in our country, but tonight we are thinking about the United States of America,” says Hanks.
“For some, the presidential inauguration is a tradition, an act that marks the dedication to a four-year term of office. In reality, the Inauguration Day is more than just swearing in the next national leaders. This day is about witnessing our American ideal.”
Biden also gave a short speech as part of the festive program called Celebrating America. The new president said he was grateful.
“As I said earlier today, we have learned today that democracy is precious and that democracy has prevailed thanks to you.”
“That’s why Jill (Biden’s wife) and me, Kamala and Doug (Vice President Harris and her husband) wanted to make sure that our inauguration was not about us, but about you, the American people.”
