Canadian parliament asks government to declare the Proud Boys a terrorist organization

The House of Commons of the Canadian parliament voted on a local time motion on Monday evening to declare the right conservative Proud Boys group ‘a terrorist organization’. The motion is non-binding and the government still has to decide whether the Proud Boys will be formally added to the list of terrorist groups.

All members of parliament agreed to the proposal submitted by The New Democratic Party, the fourth largest party in the House of Commons. When a group is on the terrorist list, all financial resources to the group are frozen and the transfer of money to members of the group is prohibited.
