Italy lets Facebook go away with ridiculously low fine

Italy gas sued the social media juggernaut for misinforming the local users about the ways their personal data will be used. By fining Facebook with suspiciously low fine Italian court system literary allows FB to get away from major punishment.

Market watchdog AGCM imposed a fine of EUR 5 million on Facebook a few years ago for the same offence. Then Facebook had to change his M. O. The new fine was imposed because the American company did not make any adjustments.

Although Facebook no longer advertises the fact that the social network is free of charge, the company still does not provide “direct and clear information on the collection and use of data on its users”, says AGCM. “That is information that consumers need to decide if they want to use the service.”
