Jerome Powell optimistic on US economy though It will take a while to get recovery right

The US economy and job growth will accelerate in the coming months. This is what President Jerome Powell of the US Federal Reserve said on Sunday during a performance on CBS’s 60 Minutes program.

“We think we’ve reached the point where the economy is starting to grow much faster and job growth is accelerating,” Powell said.

He expects the US economy to generate more than 1 million jobs a month for months on end.

Powell only wants to think about raising interest rates when there is maximum employment and inflation has been above 2% for some time.

“It will take us a while to get that right,” the banker says.
