AUKUS alliance to targeted to counter-stand the growing China power

AUKUS is a NATO Light

The United States is entering into a new partnership with Australia and the United Kingdom on the sharing of advanced technologies. President Biden and prime ministers Johnson and Morrison announced this at a joint press conference.

Under the name AUKUS, the three countries will share information and knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and defense. The first task of the partnership is to help Australia build a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.

China accuses the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom of having a “Cold War mentality” in connection with the AUKUS security pact that the three countries announced on Wednesday.

In a joint press conference, the leaders of the three allies said that the pact is intended to ensure security and stability in Oceania and the South, East and southeast of Asia, but the Chinese Embassy in Washington believes that the countries should “shake off their ideological prejudices.”

Although China is not explicitly mentioned in the agreements between the three countries, insiders have already told news site Politico that the initiative is seen as a way to form a common front against China.

Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison spoke at the press conference about an “improved” partnership. “A partnership in which our technology, scientists, companies and armed forces all work together to create a safer region. Everyone benefits from that.”

Australia must immediately take advantage of this closer cooperation.

“The first task of this partnership is to help Australia acquire a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines,” said British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He spoke of a “new chapter” in the friendly relationship between the countries.

President Joe Biden said that working with the British and Australians should make it possible to tackle the “challenges of the 21st century” together. He called the creation of AUKUS a “historic step” and pointed out that armies of the countries had already fought side by side during two World Wars.

Sources had also told Politico that the partnership will provide for the exchange of advanced technologies. Biden confirmed in his speech that AUKUS is also intended to ensure that countries maintain their lead in the military field and in the development of ‘crucial’ technologies, for example in the field of artificial intelligence.
