Ali Harbi Ali claims innocence despite all the facts against him
The 25 – year-old man suspected of stabbing British politician David Amess has declared innocent in court, according to British media. Ali Harbi Ali was arrested shortly after the stabbing on 15 October in a church in Leigh-on-Sea.
Harbi Ali also claims not to be guilty of preparing a terrorist attack between May 2019 and September 2021. The police saw killing Amess as a terrorist act.
Amess has been a member of the British Parliament on behalf of the Conservative Party since 1983. He is the second member of Parliament to have been killed in his own constituency in five years, after Labour’s Jo Cox in 2016.
The trial against Harbi Ali is scheduled for March 21, 2022. The suspect will remain in custody until then.
