An experimental H2-powered Nikola truck delivers beer
Iveco-based Nikola truck is only a prototype
Shortly after the Nikola’s first battery-electric truck, built on an Iveco s-Way chassis and equipped with an Iveco cab, hit the road, Nikola’s first hydrogen truck prototype is now also on its way. In California, a cargo of Budweiser beer was transported from the brewery to a distribution center.
Quite shortly after Nikola introduced its hydrogen-electric trucks, the world’s largest beer brewer, Anheuser-Busch, placed an order for 800 such trucks. So it makes sense that the first time a prototype goes on the road, beer is driven from the brewery to a distribution center. The distance from Van Nuys to Carson is about 35 miles, 56 kilometers one way.
The ride is part of a three-month practical test in which two tractors that drive hydrogen-electric will participate.
