Psaki asks China to support Ukraine and condemn Russia

As for now China stands out of the mainstream

The United States has officially asked China to openly condemn the Russian attack on Ukraine.

“This is no time to stay on the sidelines. Everyone should be heard and strongly condemn the actions of Russia and President Vladimir Putin,” press secretary Jen Psaki said on behalf of the White House.

China already imposed some light symbolic sanctions against Russia and spoke out for the sovereignty of Ukraine. However, it refused to openly address Russia about the invasion. According to Psaki, Beijing needs to do more.

“China’s leaders need to look closely at themselves and ask themselves which side they want to be on in the history books.”
