Container fright prices step back from the record levels
According to the recent analysis by xChange, container prices in the US will continue to fall in the medium term. Over the past two months, container prices on the East and west coasts have fallen by 30%. For example, the average price of a container in the Los Angeles container surplus port has fallen by 20% since February. The average container price fell from US $ 3,467 to US $ 2,754 in April 2022.
Christian Roeloffs, co-founder and CEO of Container xChange, on what the container prices: “in general, blockages and failures lead to an increase in container prices, especially in second-hand containers because more container volume is stuck in the logistics supply chain. In the United States, however, the empties pile up, as those containers cannot be repatriated back to Asia due to various disruptions.”
