Trump is running for re-election as president of the United States

Elderly race won't be boring

Former US president Donald Trump is running for re-election to the highest office in the United States. Just before the start of a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach in the state of Florida, he submitted the necessary paperwork to the FEC, the Federal Election Commission.

He is the first Republican nominee for president in the 2024 election. Trump said more than a week ago that he would make a “big announcement” today.

In a speech that lasted just over an hour and was broadcast live on American television, he addressed hundreds of sympathizers in a ballroom decorated with chandeliers and dozens of American flags.

“To make America Great Again, I announce that I am running for President of the United States.”

“The American comeback starts here,” he told his audience. “It’s not going to be my campaign, it’s going to be ours.”

The 76-year-old Trump hopes to become the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms. Grover Cleveland went before him. His second term ended in 1897.
