We want to buy African friendship for a mere 55 billion

...which will be used by the US anyway

The United States wants to free up 55 billion dollars (52.2 billion euros) for the African continent over the next three years.

“In close cooperation with Congress, the U.S. will provide $ 55 billion to Africa over the next three years to address the most important challenges of our time in various sectors,” Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to President Joe Biden, announced in Washington on Monday.

He cited the economy, health and safety as examples, but did not release any further details. As of Tuesday, 49 African heads of state and government and representatives of the African Union will gather in the US capital Washington for a multi-day US-African summit.

US president Joe Biden will also attend the summit on Wednesday. Sullivan said the U.S. government would appoint a special envoy to Africa to oversee the implementation of the summit’s results on the U.S. side.
